Making the clay promo art for the game. (Part One)
(Part ONE) (Part TWO) (Part THREE)
I love the early era of Video Game ads like you would see in Nintendo Power! So many of them had beautiful clay art. I wanted to emulate that style for some of the fake advertising for my own game. Let's see how my process went.
First I started with a sketch:
Then I started to work out the lil' dino shape:
Next I added some little touches; the claws and a googly eye for good measure:
After that, I gave the lil' guy his signature underbite and added the egg:
With all that it lead to the photo shot so I can get a high quality image to use in a digital form:
It didn't feel right to crush the guy back into a clump of clay so my wife and I popped him in a shadow box with some moss so he can stay at our house as a little piece of art.
I don't know the last time you played with clay, but I will say, after so much screen time during pandemic getting away from the screen and using clay is near therapeutic! Highly recommend it if you need a break for your eyes O_O
Come back soon to see the digital side of the project :D
